Full command names tend to be longer in BIM-EDIT/XP than in BIM-EDIT. This is necessary because of the greater number and scope of commands in BIM-EDIT/XP. For example, even the simple function of moving the cursor to the right one column is implemented as a command. In BIM-EDIT, the same function is implemented by the 3270 terminal and is transparent to BIM-EDIT.
Full command names tend to be of the form "xxxxyyyy" where xxxx is the object type involved and yyyy is the operation to perform against the object. For example, the FileDelete command deletes a file.
BIM-EDIT/XP provides a facility to associate alternate command forms with the full command name (see Command Definition Table). BIM-EDIT/XP as distributed provides most of the BIM-EDIT command names as alternate forms. So, for example, the PageDown command can be invoked by entering "FOR".
