Attachmate Extra Personal Client can be used to establish a connection between a workstation and the host.
Before attempting to set up Attachmate Extra Personal Client to support BIM-EDIT/XP, we recommend that you configure Attachmate Extra Personal Client to provide at least one 3270 emulator session. Consult documentation provided with Attachmate Extra Personal Client to accomplish this. Once the emulator session is working, the process of enabling BIM-EDIT/XP communications, which is accomplished through LU 6.2 sessions, will be much smoother.
The Extra Node Configuration program is used to configure LU 6.2 connections. After opening the appropriate configuration file, you will need to:
On the "Partner LU (LU 6.2)" page, define a partner LU for each BIM-EDIT/XP host component to which you will connect. Specify the following attributes for each partner LU:
Network ID corresponds to the NETID parameter in the ATCSTR00 VTAM book on the host.
LU name is the name of the application on the host system, as defined by the VTAM APPL statement. If you have just one BIM-EDIT/XP host component running, the LU name is probably "BIMEDIT".
PLU alias is the same as the LU name above.
PLU unqualified name is the same as the LU name above.
Owning control point, Network ID is the same as Network ID above.
Owning control point, CP name is the control point name of the host computer, as defined on the SSCPNAME parameter in the VTAM ATCSTR00 book.
Parallel Session Support should be off.
Defaults are OK for other attributes.
On the "Local LU (LU 6.2)" page, define three local LUs for each BIM-EDIT/XP host component to which you will connect. Specify the following attributes for each local LU:
LU name may be any name you wish except that the last character of the name must be an "A" for the first LU, "B" for the second LU, and "C" for the third LU. The LU name must match the host VTAM LU statement.
LU alias must be of the form "EDXPssn", where ss is the host system ID (normally "BI" for single-host component implementations) and n is "A" for the first LU, "B" for the second LU, and "C" for the third LU. For example, for host system ID "BI", the LU aliases for the three LUs would be "EDXPBIA", "EDXPBIB", and "EDXPBIC".
NAU address must match the address specified on the host VTAM LU statement.
PU name is one of the link names defined when 3270 emulation was set up. Open the list box. Select from among the list. You probably will have only one choice.
Session limit as 1.
On the "Mode" page, define a new mode with the following attributes:
Mode name as EDITLU62.
Session limits, Partner LU mode as 1.
Session limits, Maximum as 1.
Session limits, Minimum contention winners as 1.
Defaults are OK for other attributes.
