Use DirAlter to alter the attributes of a directory.
DirAlter may also be entered as DirAlt[er], AlterDir, AltDir, AlterL, or AltL.
DirAlter is supported for BIM directories only. It is not supported for workstation, PDS, or VSE directories.
Required Operands
DIR is the BIM directory to be altered.
Optional Operands
TITLE specifies a new comment about, or description of the directory.
USER is purely documentary. When the directory was created with the DirDefine command, if USER was not specified, USER was set to the log-on user ID.
If no optional operands are specified, DirAlter will create a window that shows the existing attributes of the directory. The attribute values can then be changed by overtyping.
When Valid
For BIM directories, the user must have DEFL access level for the directory prefix of the DIR directory (the part of the directory name preceding an imbedded period). If DIR has no prefix, the user must have system-wide DEFL access.
Return Codes
OK Successful.
NF Directory not found.
SC Inadequate access level.
Procedure Notes
DirAlter sets the TXL variables to the attributes of DIR.
Examples
Alter the title for BIM directory 4216:
=> altl 4216,'user #4216 directory'
For BIM directory OM20, alter the user:
=> altl om20,user=$sys
