Zones control the range of effect for certain operations. For example, the EditDeleteChar command shifts text left only within the zone where the cursor is. Text outside the zone is not affected.
A zone consists of a beginning-of-zone and an end-of-zone definition. A beginning-of-zone definition is indicated by a left bracket symbol ([) on the scale line. An end-of-zone definition is indicated by a right bracket symbol (]) on the scale line.

The ZoneIgnore command sets or resets ZoneIgnore mode. When ZoneIgnore mode is set, the currently defined zones are ignored and the session is treated as if it had one zone spanning column 1 through the maximum line width.
