When events of sufficient significance occur, BIM-EDIT/XP logs the event by appending a line to the user log (a.k.a. $Log). The user log is maintained as a disk file of the name LogUser.LGU stored in the Specific User Directory.
The following events will generate a user log line:
File deletion.
File rename.
File updated by SessionSave or SessionFile.
Directory created.
Updates to a session are not logged. A log line is created only when the session is saved or filed.
